Secretary-General of Muslim Council of Elders meets Grand Mufti of Azerbaijan and the Caucasus to discuss inter-Islamic dialogue

 
The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam has met His Eminence Allahshukur Pashazadeh, the Grand Mufti of Azerbaijan and the Caucasus. The pair discussed ways to promote inter-Islamic dialogue and the Muslim Council of Elders’ efforts in the Caucasus region.

 
During the meeting, Judge Abdelsalam affirmed the important role of religious leaders in countering contemporary global challenges by promoting peace and coexistence among followers of different religions as well as empowering young people to positively contribute to their societies.

 
For his part, His Eminence Allahshukur Pashazadeh expressed that Muslims in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus appreciate the efforts of the Muslim Council of Elders under the Chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in promoting peace, dialogue and coexistence. He particularly pointed to the Grand Imam’s calls for an inter-Islamic dialogue between Sunni and Shia Muslims in order to achieve unity. He looked forward to cooperating with the Muslim Council of Elders on future initiatives that promote inter-Islamic, inter-religious and intercultural dialogue.
